Description
Lovely Mask Pottery fluted vase by pottery ceramicist Jess Val Baker, all carefully hand thrown and crafted at her St Ives and Penzance studio potteries in Cornwall. Laden with colour decorative drip glazes on a rich red earthenware clay body. Some pots were stamped and some just had gold paper labelled marks. This piece not signed, possibly had a paper gold label and this pot is100% Mask Pottery.
Jess began pottery in 1953 while living at St Hilary near Goldsithney. She took a course at the Penzance Art School where she was tutored by Michael Leach. Soon she started to make pottery commercially. Bill Picard and the illustrator Donald Swan helped with decorating the pots. The pottery moved to Penzance for a time up until in 1967.

Used: Flower Displays, Decorative Ornaments, Home Décor.
Date: Circa 1958 to 1969.
Condition: Excellent Used.
