For sale: A lovely cute studio pottery sheep with two young lambs. Handmade in the 1970s at the Animals Friends pottery in Cornwall UK. This fine little specimen is made from stoneware pottery, date circa 1977-1979. Full stamped ANIMAL FRIENDS mark.
Animal Friends was started by Biddy Picard in 1977. John Parkes and Barbara Pilkington helped out on a temporary basis intially but eventually took over in 1980. They produce a wide range of birds and animals, each individually hand-crafted. John is especially noted for his larger pieces of work such as gannets and and cormorants.
The pottery made these little animal figurines to raise money for charity to protect local wildlife in Cornwall, even local charity shops purchased from the Animal Friends Pottery and sold to support and protect wild animals.
